The core of the project side of our business is our Software Design and Development team. Numbering a half dozen, this well-knit group develops both our client-specific bespoke software, as well as our growing suite of packaged and semi-packaged software solutions.

Working within Microsoft's .NET environment for the majority of its development work, the team first creates a series of customer-driven and evolving Functional Specification Documents, designed to illustrate and detail each purpose-built software program it will eventually build. In effect, we create a Software User Manual before the software is even created! Using the finalized Functional Spec Document as a "system blueprint," the team strives to tangibly craft what has been co-conceived by our client and system designers.

There are many software development firms that can develop high-quality PC-based database and reporting software. A great majority of them have little or no experience with also developing software for mobile devices, or devices that employ bar code, RFID, smart card, or the other technologies which our programmers are all so intimately acquainted with. The members of our team also are extremely cognizant of the fact that many of the systems they develop will be used by front-line workers who are not always computer-literate. Therefore, Aurora's systems will always be exceptionally user-friendly, employing the Japanese business strategy of poka-yoke ("POH-kah YOH-keh") — which simply means "mistake-proof."
